Is Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) and Michael Cordero’s (Brett Dier) love story doomed to an unhappy ending?

If the new “Jane the Virgin” Season 3 promo were to be believed, then it certainly looks like it. In the promo, viewers were taken on a trip down memory lane as the highlights of Jane and Michael’s relationship were shown.

“Every great romance has a magical beginning,” the voiceover said as Jane and Michael share a passionate kiss.

The scene quickly changes to Michael being shot during their wedding night as Jane rushes to him in tears, telling him to “stay with me.”

The voiceover grimly continued, “But some have tragic endings.”

A quick scene of Jane visiting Michael in the hospital was then seen, with the voiceover guaranteeing an “unforgettable season premiere event.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Mendez, the guy who voices the Narrator in “Jane the Virgin,” has made a lot of fans excited after he confirmed that Jane will finally lose her virginity this Season 3.

However, Mendez also made fans worried since he teased that Jane might lose her virginity not to her husband Michael, but to some new guy.

“At this point, we don't know where they're heading with anything," Mendez admitted to Bustle. “All I do know is that [showrunner] Jennie [Snyder Urman] had mentioned that Jane would lose her virginity this season, but we either don't know or can't say when that happens.”

One guy who might be vying for Jane’s affections this coming season is her childhood crush Sam. According to TV Line, “Young and the Restless” star Miles Gaston Villanueva has been cast as Sam, and he was in Jane’s life long before she met either Michael and Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni). He is described as “intellectual and sexy,” which is just the kind of guy Jane likes.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
