Jane the Virgin Rafael
Jane (Gina Rodriguez, left) seems to have ended her love triangle with Rafael (Justin Baldoni, right) and Michael (Brett Dier, not pictured). But will sparks fly again for the former couple in Season 3? CW

It seems like “Jane the Virgin” decided to throw the Jane-Michael-Rafael love triangle out of the equation this Season 3, after Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) chose to marry Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) and leave her baby daddy Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni).

But even though Jane and Michael are enjoying the honeymoon stage of their marriage right now, Rodriguez said nothing is set in stone and it’s possible that Jane will rekindle her former romance with Rafael. “It’s a telenovela, c’mon, you know that,” Rodriguez said, according to Bustle. “There’s gonna be a lot of triangles, a lot of love. A lot of messiness and redemption and all the things we go through on a daily basis. Lots.”

Rodriguez added that she misses shooting the love triangle scenes with Baldoni and Dier, and she is hopeful that they would get to do it again soon. “It’s never gonna leave. Don’t worry. No, nobody has to worry about that,” Rodriguez assured fans.

When Season 3 of “Jane the Virgin” opened, Rafael happily announced that he’s over Jane. As a result, their dynamic as co-parents of baby Mateo changed significantly, with Rafael not being afraid to contradict Jane anymore because he no longer had to please her. However, some fans are skeptical about Rafael’s announcement. How could he get over Jane that quickly?

Rodriguez might not like to close the book on Jane and Rafael's relationship, but Baldoni feels otherwise. He even told Fuse that the two are over each other for good. “I do, actually,” Baldoni said, when asked if he thinks his character has truly moved on. “I know a lot of the fans don't, but I do think so. Rafael is a pretty strong guy. I don't know a lot of TV characters who have had to deal with as much as Rafael has to deal with in the past few years.”

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 airs every Monday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
