“Carmen Sandiego” is being executive-produced by Duane Capizz and is slated for release sometime in 2019. CJ Kettler will team up with Capizz as executive producer, while Caroline Fraser will serve as the executive in charge of production. Kevin Dart will be in charge of the visual design. The series is produced by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It has been nearly 20 years since “Carmen Sandiego” was last seen on television. From 1994 to 1999, FOX aired the animated series “Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?” The show was inspired by the hit 1980 video game, which was also later on adapted to print format. At the time, the character was voiced by Rita Moreno. The actress recently appeared on “Jane the Virgin” alongside Rodriguez. Last year, Rodriguez also paid tribute to Moreno and said that she is one of her biggest inspirations in the industry.

On her Twitter account, Rodriguez posted a series of tweets teasing her involvement in the show. The CW actress also retweeted a photo of the character from the animated series.
