Jazz Jennings’ mother Jeanette Jennings did not hold back when asked about her daughter’s 100-pound weight gain in a new interview.

The mother and daughter duo did a promotional interview with “Today” via Zoom Wednesday ahead of the “I Am Jazz” Season 7 premiere. Among the questions thrown at the pair was about the weight Jazz, 21, put on in the past two years.

Addressing the issue head-on, Jeanette, 55, blamed the weight gain on her daughter’s food addiction. She also said that overcoming the problem would ultimately depend on the trans activist’s self-control.

“She’s addicted to food, and you can’t kick that addiction until you’re ready to and it’s all on her,” Jeanette said of her daughter, who was previously diagnosed with binge-eating disorder.

The Jennings matriarch also admitted that she and the rest of their family could be harsh when calling out Jazz over her unhealthy weight gain, but she said everything was for Jazz’s own good.

“We try to be supportive and yes, sometimes we’re annoying. We’re like, please don’t order it, and then she orders and we’re like why did you do that?” Jeanette explained.

Earlier this month, when the first trailer for the TLC series dropped, Jazz revealed that she was “fat-shamed” by her own family after gaining the extra pounds. “It makes me feel really humiliated,” she said at the time.

In her latest interview, Jazz admitted that it was hard watching the trailer for their reality show because she knew within herself that her family only wants what’s best for her. However, she also felt bad hearing the unkind remarks coming from the people she loves the most.

“It was really hard to watch that trailer because my family really does support me and love me and they want the best for me,” she said.

Jazz continued, ”They want to see me be happy and healthy and it all comes from a place of love, but they’ve said comments in the past that kind of have been like, that’s not the kind of thing to say. They look at my body and make remarks that aren’t kind.”

Meanwhile, a sneak peek released via People Monday showed that Jazz will be taking on an internship at her doctor’s office. According to the reality star, she needs to be productive for 6 months to prove to Harvard that she’s capable of carrying a full schedule in her freshman year at the Ivy League school.

“I Am Jazz” Season 7 premieres Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
