John Legend has slammed U.S. President Donald Trump for saying “dumb” things while addressing the people and the media. The musician lashed out at the POTUS for allegedly saying ridiculous things when the whole nation is trying its best to fight the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview with GQ, the 41-year-old singer-composer said that he could not believe the people of America chose an “idiot” like him for such an important role. He went on to say that Trump’s words are ridiculously “selfish” and “narcissistic” at the same time.

“It is so ridiculous. It is almost like you cannot believe it is real that we elected this idiot to be president of the United States. The things that he says are just so ridiculously dumb and so ridiculously selfish and narcissistic at the same time,” Legend said.

The “Love Me Now” hitmaker also criticized the president for not listening to actual scientists and for allegedly making decisions that benefit him personally. The Academy Award-winning musician believes that Trump does not have the ability to tackle big problems.

“He says a bunch of ridiculous happy-talk home remedies that people should not be doing. And then you combine that with the fact that he does not listen to scientists and makes every decision on how it will benefit him personally. He is exactly opposite of what we need right now,” Legend said.

Later in the interview, he also opened up about the new music he has been creating while staying at home. Legend admitted that the industry has been struck really hard by the ongoing pandemic and he constantly questions himself if it would be right to release new music right now.

“On the career side, it has been crazy, because we have all this new music that we were preparing to put out and you just never know how all of it affects how people are going to receive it. We just do not know what is going to happen,” Legend said. But he insisted that he plans to release new music as soon as possible.

Legend has produced six studio albums so far. Thus far, he has won 11 Grammys, 1 Golden Globe, 1 Primetime Emmy, 1 Critics’ Choice Award, 1 Tony Award, and 2 Billboard Music Awards.
