  • Johnny Depp's "Minamata" co-star said he was always calm and gentle
  • Amber Heard alleged that Johnny Depp was abusive and violent
  • Johnny Depp's exes didn't experience what Amber Heard claimed against him

Johnny Depp’s “Minamata” co-star Hiroyuki Sanada said that Amber Heard’s ex-husband was “always calm and gentle.”

Depp has made his return to the big screen with “Minamata.” One of his co-actors had nothing but praises for Depp’s character despite his ex-wife’s claims that he was abusive and violent.

“Johnny spent a long time in make-up every day but was always calm and gentle,” Sanada said of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.

“He was generous with the crew and cast and on weekends we would have a drink together. He loves jokes and would play the guitar and sang for me. I had a great time with him. Since the film was shot in Serbia – Minamata is a very modern city now – some of the Japanese extras came at their own expense from London, Germany and Japan just to be around him. They were not disappointed.”

Sanada’s statement about the actor was opposite to Heard’s allegations. Depp’s exes had described him the same way.

Lori Anne Allison said that Depp never got physical with her. In fact, he was a “soft person” and was very kind to the animals. Vanessa Paradis called Heard’s allegations “outrageous.” She said that Depp was “sensitive” and a “loving person.” She described their years together as “wonderful.”

Winona Ryder also said that she was shocked with Heard’s claims because she never saw Depp being violent toward anyone. Ryder didn’t call Heard a liar, but stressed that she didn’t experience any violence when she was with Depp.

“I can only speak from my own experience, which was wildly different than what is being said,” Ryder told Time Magazine . “He was never, never that way towards me. Never abusive at all towards me. I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves.”

Meanwhile, Depps’ fans have been campaigning for his justice against Heard after an audio confession of the actress admitting that she hit him leaked. They are also happy to see Depp’s return to the big screen. Some of them even called Disney to cast Depp again as Jack Sparrow for “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Depp lost the role in 2018 following Heard’s claims that he was abusive and violent.
