  • Michael Ratner, director of Justin Bieber's docu-series revealed that the discussion about his health was really "cathartic"
  • The filmmaker noted that Bieber felt good after sharing the specific details of his life
  • Bieber's new album "Changes" topped the Billboard charts

Justin Bieber opened up a lot about his life in the recent documentary named “Seasons” on YouTube. From drug problems to getting nervous about getting married to Hailey Baldwin, the singer shared specific details about certain issues in his life.

The documentary was directed by filmmaker Michael Ratner and he got a lot of praise for his skills. Speaking in an interview with MTV, the director of various short movies revealed that he was really lucky to sit with Bieber and talk about his health, which really helped him in making the series even more amazing.

Ratner further stated that the conversations about the hard times in Bieber’s life made the singer feel relieved. Recalling the moment when the “Yummy” hitmaker spoke about his drug problems, Ratner noted that Bieber felt really good after sharing the specific details of his life and was mature enough to share these details for the first time in his life.

“I think the conversations about the more difficult times in his life were cathartic. At one point, he thought the cameras were off and he goes, ‘You know this feels so good. I did not think I was mature enough to share,’ and I said, ‘Have you talked about this?’ and he said, ‘No, not really. I just was not there yet,’” Ratner said.

The most surprising moment in the documentary came when the “Sorry” singer revealed that he suffered from Lyme disease when he was younger and had to be put on Lithium when it was getting hard for him to recover. Ratner explained that it was really hard for Bieber to open about that particular moment.

“He is human and he is living a real-life, whether having Lyme disease or when he was talking about being put on lithium when he shouldn't have been. If Justin Bieber is looking to seek that help, maybe you will as well,” Ratner said.

The docu-series earned mixed reviews from critics. Many critics noted that the series is strictly for Bieber’s fans who want to know how he has progressed as an artist and a human. But the fans could not stop raving about the series and filled social media with positive remarks.

In related news, Bieber’s latest album “Changes” made a grand entry into the Billboard charts and claimed the numero uno position on Billboard 200 in its opening week. The album has the third-biggest opening week for an album released this year. The two albums that are ahead of Bieber’s “Changes” are Eminem’s “Music To Be Murdered By” and Halsey’s “Manic.”

By claiming the number one spot, Bieber achieved a huge feat. The musician became the youngest artist to have seven number one albums, beating the previous record-holder, Elvis Presley.
