South Korean singer IU made a generous contribution to aid the frontline healthcare workers who are fighting to save lives amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

The veteran singer-songwriter who is known for her kindness and charitable personality made yet another generous contribution to help the frontline nurses who are fighting to save lives amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

The Korean Nurses Association confirmed that IU donated over 4,600 cooling vests valued at around 100 million South Korean Won (approximately $84,410) to help the medical professionals battling against the global pandemic. As reported by Soompi, the donation was made through the Community Chest of Korea, a non-profit organization.

According to the Korean Nurses Association, the cooling vests provided by IU will be sent to various testing stations and medical facilities around the country.

Due to the severity of the virus, the medical staff wears their protective equipment throughout their shifts as they carry out their duties and look after the COVID-19 patients.

This will help the nurses tackle the summer heat so they can continue to do their best without overheating in their protective gear.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in also applauded IU for her contribution while thanking the frontline nurses for their service.

"To our nurses, thank you. While comforting our nurses who take charge of medical sites while doctors are away, I'd like to express my gratitude and admiration for your sacrifice and hard work. It must be difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic, so I can't imagine how much harder it must be with doctors going on strike.

Don't lose courage, and hang on for a little longer. I heard that the singer IU donated ice vests. That's right. Don't forget that while you struggle to help patients, our citizens are also by your side.

The government will search for a way to make it a little easier for nurses. We'll do our best to provide the resources you need. We'll start by providing additional personnel and do things we can start right away.

Thank you, nurses. We love you," he wrote, according to Allkpop.

The nurses and medical staff took to social media to express their gratitude towards the 27-year-old singer for her thoughtful contribution.

This is not the first time that IU donated to help healthcare workers. She previously donated 200 million won (approximately $168,820) in February. She also recently donated 100 million won to help those children who were facing social and financial problems due to the pandemic.
