Kanye West is planning to build low cost housing units inspired by “Star Wars” in order to help give shelter to the homeless. The singer is working with a team of designers for the project, and he already has a few prototype structures in place.

Movie buffs may remember the “Star Wars” character Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) home world of Tatooine that has some distinct looking houses. In an interview with Forbes, West revealed that he has been working on building houses like that as a part of his charity initiative to help homeless people in the U.S.

West is personally involved in the project, overseeing a team that is putting together the designs for the low cost homes. The plan involves building prefabricated structures that can serve as living spaces for the homeless.

Reporters from Forbes got a chance to see some of the prototypes that West and his team have built. The concept designs of the homes have been described as “oblong and dozens of feet tall.” The structures can reportedly be sunk into the ground, with light coming in from the top.

Kim Kardashian said that her husband pushed his team to do their best and go outside their comfort zone. This has apparently helped his team members to grow.

This is not the first time that West has been personally involved in designing things. His wife has previously revealed that West came up with a sketch for a basin-less sink in their home, ET Canada reported. The sink design left many people confused, which promoted the reality TV star to shoot a video of it and share some details online.

West previously appeared on “The Ellen Show” to talk about his passion for making a difference in this world by using his skill set. The singer had asked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for $53 million because he thought that he would be able to help more people if he had more resources.
