There has been constant speculation for months over whether or not Kate Middleton would consider having a fourth baby, and her recent appearance at Royal Ascot certainly only added to the rumors she might be pregnant. However, there are reasons to believe the Duchess is not only not pregnant, but won’t be having a fourth child at all.

After Middleton was spotted touching her stomach several times during Royal Ascot, fans once again were left in a flurry over the fact that the Duchess of Cambridge might be pregnant with her fourth child with Prince William, after last giving birth to her third child, Prince Louis, in April 2018. However, Showbiz Cheat Sheet indicates there are several reasons to believe that despite feeling “broody,” Middleton may not consider having another baby at all.

The website notes that not only is Middleton doting on her youngest son, which could indicate she knows he’s the last baby she will have, but her medical history, as well as age, could also play into a decision not to have another child. She famously suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum during all three of her previous pregnancies and in addition, she is now 37 years old, which means any pregnancy she goes through would be considered geriatric—and could come with some even bigger risks and complications than she expected.

Of course, even though there are reasons to believe Middleton may not have another baby due to medical history and age, a source close to the Duchess previously revealed that she’d be willing to take the risks again in order to have one more child.

“Catherine would like another baby,” the source said at the time. “She loves children and is prepared to put herself through another pregnancy even though they have been complicated by severe morning sickness in the past.”

Another source also previously insisted that the Duchess wants Louis to have a younger sibling as well.

“Kate has seen the bond between George and Charlotte and thinks it would be lovely if Louis had a sister closer to his age,” the source said.

In addition, it’s also worth noting that a geriatric pregnancy—or one that happens after a woman reaches age 35—may not scare off Middleton either. She already was considered a geriatric pregnancy with Prince Louis, whom she gave birth to a few months after her 36th birthday, and her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, just gave birth to her first child, Archie Harrison, at the age of 37.
