Kate Middleton is the mother of three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Although she and Prince William appear to be confident about their parenting skills, the couple weren’t as relaxed when they welcomed their first child.

In a new interview, the Duchess of Cambridge admitted she went through a variety of emotions after she gave birth to Prince George.

In an interview on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Kate told Giovanna Fletcher that she couldn’t wait to leave the hospital with her baby boy. Before she gave birth, Kate was hospitalized due to hyperemesis gravidarum, acute morning sickness.

“Everything goes in a bit of a blur. I think, yeah I did stay in hospital overnight. I remember it was one of the hottest days and night with huge thunderstorms, so I didn’t get a huge amount of sleep, but George did, which was really great,” she explained.

“I was keen to get home because, for me, being in the hospital, I had all the memories of being in the hospital because of being sick [with acute morning sickness], so it wasn’t a place I wanted to hang around in. So, I was really desperate to get home and get back to normality.”

Despite her desire to leave the facility, Kate reflected on the memorable moment when she held Prince George for the first time. “Amazing, amazing. It is extraordinary as I’ve said. How can the human body do that? It is utterly extraordinary actually,” she shared.

“And he was very sweet. And I was also sort of relieved that he was a happy, healthy boy,” Kate added.

However, Kate admitted she struggled to calm her nerves when it came time to attend a photocall outside of the hospital and introduce the world to Prince George.

“Yeah, slightly terrifying, slightly terrifying, I’m not going to lie. Everyone had been so supportive, and both [Prince] William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about and, you know, we’re hugely grateful for the support that the public had shown us,” she told the told author.

“Actually, for us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important. But equally, it was coupled with a newborn baby, and inexperienced parents, and the uncertainty of what that held, so there were all sorts of mixed emotions.”

Nonetheless, Kate and Prince William made their way outside of Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London and showed off their baby boy. Nowadays, the couple is focused on their three children and haven’t made plans to welcome a fourth.
