Kate Middleton knows how to handle her staff well, so they stick with her.

According to royal expert Neil Sean, Middleton knows how to treat her staff with kindness. The duchess reportedly makes them comfortable. She listens to them and she thanks them whenever they do something for her.

“What she does do is that members of her staff, if you’ve got an idea or a suggestion, she takes it up. She thanks you,” Sean said on “Today.”

“Not that other members of the family are not friendly or anything like that but this is sort of a pare down approach compared to the more stiff, formal approach of courtiers and staff.”

Sean also pointed out what Middleton did right that helped her establish a good relationship with those who are working for her.

“Kate is very good at making you feel very comfortable. More importantly, I think that’s why her staff have stuck around a long time,” he added. “She knows how to manage her staff and, more importantly, they like her, which is a brilliant and positive result.”

If there was something in Middleton that upset the staff, it was reportedly her attitude to do more things for herself. According to Ashley Pearson, the duchess did not grow up with household servants and was used to doing things her own way. She likes to cook and do things for Prince William. She also enjoys the privacy she gets without servants around.

However, those who have been serving the royals did not like that approach because they knew it was their job to serve the future queen consort. Middleton’s tendency to be too hands-on upset the royal household. At the same time, it put Middleton in a difficult position because she wasn’t used to having staff around.

Unlike Middleton, her sister-in-law Meghan Markle was called “Duchess Difficult” because she was reportedly demanding and it was difficult to work with her. Markle lost three aides in November 2018. She lost another staff earlier this year.

According to Pearson, Markle offends her staff by getting up early at 5 a.m. and texting them to let them know about the things they have to do that day. Doing so is normal for Markle since it’s how celebrities do it and for her, she is just “getting her day set up.” However, the royal household has a different protocol.
