Washington believes that it is a great moment for the people of the U.S. as Harris became the first Black woman to be a Vice-President nominee of a major party. She also shared that the particular news will bring hope to the children who are dreaming of becoming something “bigger” in the future.

“Overwhelmed by this historic moment. @KamalaHarris is the first Black woman and first Asian-American/Indian to be a VP nominee of a major party,” Washington wrote. “My heart is soaring for all the kids out there who see themselves in her and will dream bigger because of this . #KamalaHarrisForVP,” Washington wrote on Twitter.

James, the iconic NBA player, congratulated Harris after the announcement and also appreciated Biden for making such a wonderful decision.

“Congrats and well deserved Sen. Kamala Harris!! Love to see and support it! Appreciate you JB,” James tweeted.

Actress Viola Davis could not contain her excitement and shared a dancing GIF of Harris to celebrate the announcement. She also noted that it is indeed a “happy birthday” for her after hearing the news.

On the other hand, the “Folklore” hitmaker reacted to the news by writing “YES” on the micro-blogging platform.

Biden announced on his official Twitter account that it is an “honor” for her to pick Harris as his running mate because he considers her a “fearless fighter.”

“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris – a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants – as my running mate,” Biden tweeted.
