The four ladies from “Sex and the City” have a truly enviable friendship, and many girls want to be just like Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York (Lucy Davis), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall).

But amidst the controversy surrounding the “Sex and the City 3” film, Cattrall admitted that she and her co-stars weren’t really friends in real life.

“We’ve never been friends,” she said during an appearance on ITV’s “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.” “We’ve been colleagues and in some way, it’s a very healthy place to be.”

Cattrall also addressed rumors that she was the one who pulled the plug on the third “Sex and the City” movie. As far as Cattrall is concerned, the accusations are “ridiculous.”

“I never asked for any money,” Cattrall said. “I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous.”

A source earlier told PEOPLE that Cattrall was “a demanding diva” who “made outrageous demands,” so much so that “the studio had enough and pulled the plug. Her demand for them to buy her films in development and to give her a TV deal are what broke the camel’s back for them.”

However, a different source said that Cattrall simply wanted a better treatment for her character should there be a third movie.

“She was willing to have a conversation, but she needed to hear something she hasn’t heard before — namely, that they would treat her character with some dignity and respect — and they wouldn’t even engage in that sort of discussion,” the source said.

Cattrall reportedly thought that Samantha had “one humiliating plot line after another” in the first two movies. In the first movie, Samantha was binge eating and gaining weight just so she is distracted from cheating from her boyfriend. But she eventually breaks up with him anyway. In the second film, Samantha suffered from menopause and hot flashes.

The source even defended her by saying “she never wanted to derail things and she’s never demanded story approval and she’s never tried to meddle with what the screenwriters and show creators thought was best.”
