Kim Kardashian has been receiving a lot of negative attention for her latest photoshoot with 7 Hollywood Magazine. The photos show her laying on a bed in a tight black dress with a large pearl necklace around her neck.

But, what she’s wearing is not the issue. The internet seemed to notice that Kardashian looks a bit darker than usual when it comes to her skin tone. This resulted in a lot of people accusing the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star of blackface.

On Twitter, Kardashian captioned her photo “Wearing Mugler Private Archives for @7hollywood_mag. WHAT A DREAM….”

One user replied and told her to correct her caption to “Wearing blackface*.”

“Can we leave this family in 2019,” another person said. “she appropriates and disrespects black people because they let her get away with it and she uses the ultimate “but my best friends are black” defense to defend her horrible actions. She’s the modern day Al Jolson…”

“It’s not cool or cute. No I don’t feel honored as a black woman. Some fear us first bc of our chocolate, they hate & mistreat us. And you want to wear it like an accessory? Go rinse off our struggle! Anything for publicity,” someone else said.

“Kim, Kim, this is blackface. And this like, the second time you wore this wig. That one time with the baby, yeah. I haven’t forgotten. You’re a beautiful woman. Wear your own skin and realize that this is blackface,” another user responded.

A source close to the reality star defended her to Page Six, stating that it was a lighting issue that has caused the controversy, not anything the reality star herself did.

“It’s the lighting that makes her look darker in this specific image,” the source said. “There are multiple covers and images from this shoot where the lighting looks more natural.”

“People are so quick to find the negative in everything and also often forget that she is of Armenian descent,” the source added.

At press time, neither Kardashian nor 7 Hollywood Magazine has made a statement regarding these allegations.
