  • Some netizens are skeptical about Kardashian’s latest health endeavor

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian often promotes her "plant-based" diet on social media. In a recent tweet, the 40-year-old celebrity reiterated how it "does a body good."

The tweet, which comprised photos of Kardashian showcasing her toned body while wearing a white crop top long sleeves, pair of cargo pants and heels, was shared with her 69 million Twitter followers on Thursday.

She attributed her body’s leanness to her plant-based diet, and wrote: “Plant-based does a body good.”

However, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star is not a vegan.

There is a difference between being vegan and having a plant-based diet. Veganism, according to The Spruce Eats, is a vegetarian diet without meat, eggs, dairy products or any animal-derived ingredients.

On the other hand, going on a plant-based diet means a person primarily focuses on foods from plants. Having a plant-based diet doesn’t mean a person would abstain from eating meat.

According to The Beet, the reality star did not profess that she’s vegan nor that she is going on a fully plant-based diet. Kardashian eats “mostly” a plant-based diet and she’s doing it as part of her advocacy to live a healthy lifestyle and save the environment.

Everyday Health reported that sticking to a plant-based diet has several positive effects. According to the studies Everyday Health cited, the diet may lower blood pressure, keep one’s heart healthy, reduce the risk of having Type 2 Diabetes, decrease cancer risk, reduce the chances of having a stroke and could help in weight loss.

It is noteworthy, however, to consult a physician first before someone goes on plant-based or any type of diet for proper assessment.

Meanwhile, some of Kardashian's Twitter followers got inspired by the star’s latest endeavor and said they wanted to try going plant-based too. However, others are convinced that it was just a stunt.

“I mean you can't credit a [plant-based] diet alone. Being extremely rich and frequent trips to a plastic surgeon/fillers/botox/etc help too,” one netizen commented on Twitter. “Saying this body is obtainable by eating [plant-based] alone creates unrealistic body standards in [an] unattainable way.”

“Are you about to sell a diet/lifestyle plan? *thinking face*” a Twitter user commented.

“And surgery,” another netizen added. “Lots and lots of surgery.”

“Yeah, so does a personal trainer, plastic surgery and a personal chef,” wrote another Twitter user. “It’s harmful to young girls to think this is achievable by only eating a certain way.”
