'The Last Kingdom' Season 4: Eliza Butterworth Teases Release Date Announcement

The “The Last Kingdom” Season 4 release date announcement may be coming soon. Cast member Eliza Butterworth, who will be reprising her role as Aelswith on the show, took to social media recently to say that the show will premiere soon.

Butterworth shared a picture of her basking in the sun on Instagram recently. She jokingly wrote that her character Aelswith also likes to bask in the sun from time to time when she is not busy “frowning in palace corridors.” The actress added that she doesn’t know exactly when the show will be released, but promised that it will be out very soon.

If the next season of the popular TV series is going to premiere soon, the fans can expect the release date announcement in the coming days. Meanwhile, the cast members have been teasing behind-the-scenes pictures and production updates on social media. Filming of the show wrapped some time back and “The Last Kingdom” Season 4 is currently in the post-production phase of development.

The official Instagram page of the TV series shared a picture from the editing room where the team is currently putting together the final cut of each episode. The photo shows the team editing a scene involving the lead character Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon).

The plot this time around will be about how the new king Edward (Timothy Innes) will continue to build his nation and try to fulfil the dream of a united kingdom called England. One character who may help him with this dream apart from Uhtred is Aldhelm (James Northcote).

In an interview with Winter Is Coming, Northcote teased that his character will support the person who can “bring England together and keep Mercia strong.” The two people the actor feels can accomplish this are Aethelflaed (Millie Brady) and King Edward.

“The Last Kingdom” Season 4 is expected to be released some time later this year.
