Since exiting Scientology in 2013, actress Leah Remini has been highlighting the stories of those who have also parted ways with the religion. She furthered that conversation for the past three seasons on her A&E show "Scientology and the Aftermath." However, it was announced this week that the series will be coming to a close.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the special two-hour finale, filmed in front of a live audience, will include a discussion with Remini about her belief that certain Scientology members are hindered from "reporting instances of sexual assault and physical violence to the authorities."

Sources close to the program revealed to the outlet that accusations that have been made against actor Danny Masterson, who is known for his work on "That '70s Show," will be part of the final episode. Masterson, who is a Scientologist, was recently accused of sexual assault and subsequently sued, along with the Church of Scientology, for allegedly covering up the events.

When speaking about the show coming to an end after 36 episodes, A&E Network executive VP Elaine Frontain Bryant said, "We can't thank Leah and the team at IPC enough for creating this groundbreaking series."

Remini recently spoke to THR about her decision as well, specifically how she intends to handle the Masterson situation.

"We filmed with three [alleged] victims. The [alleged] victims were concerned and felt hurt and betrayed by [the delay in airing], and I understand that. They also feel hurt and betrayed by the [Los Angeles] District Attorney. I wanted to open up the whole thing. If it was any other organization but Scientology, the D.A. would at least be investigating. I've heard nothing," she said.

The upcoming finale of the Emmy-winning show is also said to include a number of ex-Scientologists who want to share their stories of abuse. Additionally, a panel of "legal, psychological and law-enforcement experts" are said to be participating in order to advise the former members how to best seek justice and affect change moving forward.

"Scientology and the Aftermath" will air its final episode on Monday, Aug. 26, at 9:00 p.m. EST on A&E.
