  • Nintendo confirmed a few weeks ago the "BOTW" sequel will be released in 2022
  • Fans were disappointed when it was a no-show at the recent Nintendo Direct event
  • Nintendo did not reveal a definitive release date of the highly anticipated game

Many fans were hopeful the Japanese gaming titan Nintendo would offer an update on "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" but were left disappointed when nothing was revealed about the highly anticipated sequel at Nintendo's Direct event. Interestingly, a new piece of information has surfaced online that offers an update on the game's release status.

The latest information about "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" came from Nintendo Insider and the Twitter user who goes by the name Samus Hunter. On the microblogging site, the insider revealed that there are other "Zelda" games in development.

Hunter also suggested that fans will get something from the series this year. He further claimed that if "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" is delayed, then fans can expect it to release sometime between April and May.

"A Zelda product will be released this year as always, as there are other titles in development, but right now the plans are still a late 2022 release, and If a delayed happened, they would announce it around April/May because that's usually the period for the new FY projection [sic]," they tweeted.

"PS: it is still early to talk about a release of the sequel to Breath of The Wild in 2023, replaced by some ports such as the WW and TP collection (which I have always talked about as not currently planned)," they said in another tweet.

It is worth noting that Samus Hunter has provided insider information in the past, and while some of it was accurate, some was not.

So far, this is the latest unofficial update available on the highly anticipated game sequel.

Earlier this month, Nintendo confirmed that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" is still on track for a 2022 release but did not disclose a definitive date of the sequel's release. Unfortunately, that is the only official update from the Japanese gaming giant related to the game.

When it comes to leaks, as always, fans should temper their expectations and take them as highly speculative at this stage. Nintendo will surely release a statement if the release of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" would be delayed.
