Will Zari and Ray’s friendship turn into something more?

In a recent interview with TV Insider, “Legends of Tomorrow” star Tala Ashe said that she doesn’t think the relationship between her character Zari and Brandon Routh’s Ray is heading to romance, even though the two are always paired together in Season 3 of the CW series.

“I will say that I think they’re really good buddies but they’re too different,” Ashe said of Zari and Ray’s relationship. “I think it would not work very long in a romantic setting between Zari and Ray. There’s a lot of yin and yang there in terms of the friendship and he’s gonna have sort of his own storyline which has nothing to do with Zari.”

Also, Ashe previously said that finding love isn’t on Zari’s priority list. “I don’t know that Zari has romance on the mind at all,” Ashe told Entertainment Weekly last year. “What you’re going to find out this season is that her priorities are on something very, very different, so I don’t foresee … a romance between them (Zari and Ray). I think she and Ray are going to be pals maybe down the line, but I don’t think it’s a romantic thing.”

When asked what other things are coming up in the rest of the season, Ashe teased what series newcomer Keiynan Lonsdale would bring to the table as well as the mystery surrounding the totems. “A really great thing that’s happening is Wally West (Lonsdale] [aka Kid Flash] joining the show,” the 33-year-old actress told TV Insider. “He’s added a really interesting dynamic and it sort of revs up into the totem mythology that this season has sort of been about.”

“And we’re going to learn more about Amaya’s (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) journey in that and what her role is in all that,” Ashe continued. “I think the rest of the season is going to be about exploring the totems and getting more into Mallus (voiced by John Noble). The finale pays off on a lot of the things that we’ve seen.”

As announced last month, Lonsdale is set to join Season 3 of “Legends of Tomorrow” as a series regular. After showing up in this week’s Season 3, episode 11, Lonsdale’s Wally will join the Legends full-time in episode 13. Unfortunately, according to Entertainment Weekly, Lonsdale won’t be returning to “The Flash” before moving to “Legends” permanently.

“Legends of Tomorrow” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
