Lil’ Kim's cousin Aggy died after he was fatally shot. The rapper announced the devastating news on her Twitter account late Thursday. The 44-year-old did not reveal the circumstances surrounding Aggy's death.

"At times you were so quiet but as soon as you started speaking everyone in the room knew that you were a real riot," she wrote alongside a photo of Aggy. "I used to tell you that you need go away to college and get a basketball scholarship. You had so much potential. We your family will greatly miss you and we will always keep our lighters up for you. Love you Aggy."

Meanwhile, the rapper’s older brother, Christopher Jones, and her mother, Ruby Mae Jones, have not spoken out about the tragedy so far.

This isn’t the first time Lil’ Kim — whose original name is Kimberly Denise Jones — lost someone close to her in gun-related violence. Her former boyfriend and mentor Christopher Wallace, better known as Notorious B.I.G., was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997. According to reports, Wallace had encouraged her to create the Lil’ Kim alter ego and focus on a lascivious style. Wallace also was a producer on her debut album, "Hard Core", in 1996.

The news of the latest tragedy in her family comes just after she announced via Twitter that she will release “9,” her first new album since 2005’s “The Naked Truth,” on May 17. This news came on the heels of the February release of her single “Go Awf.”

After she shared the news of Aggy's death, several of her fans expressed their sadness.

"RIP Aggy and sorry for your loss Kim with much love," one fan replied to her post, while another said: "Sorry for your lost. Praying for you and your family."
