Rapper Lil Wayne was hospitalized Sunday after he was found unconscious in his Chicago hotel room, TMZ reported. The Grammy-award winning musician suffered multiple seizures due to which his Las Vegas show had to be canceled.

Wayne is currently receiving treatment at the Northwestern Memorial in Chicago. TMZ reported the seizures were a result of his ongoing battle with epilepsy.

Doctors have advised the "Lollipop" singer against traveling as he needs rest to recover from his current condition, according to TMZ.

Wayne, who has a net worth of $150 million, was due to perform at Drais Beachclub at the Cromwell at midnight with Rae Sremmurd. The rapper, whose birth name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, began his professional career at the age of nine. He was the youngest artist to be signed by Cash Money Records. Wayne debuted his solo album "The Block is Hot" in 1999; it went double platinum and reached the third position on the Billboard charts.

In 2005, Wayne became the president of Cash Money Records and also founded his own record company, Young Money Entertainment. The 34-year-old was nominated for eight Grammy's following his sixth studio album "Tha Carter III" in 2008. Over the years, Wayne has collaborated with dozens of musicians such as Birdman, Ludacris, Chris Brown, Akon, T.I. Keri Hilson and many others.

Sunday's incident was not the first time Wayne suffered seizures. In 2016, the rapper had to make an emergency landing during a flight from Wisconsin to California when he fell sick on board the jet.

In 2013, Wayne's fans were concerned about the rapper after he was hospitalized for multiple seizures. The New Orleans-born later revealed he's epileptic and "prone to seizures."

"This wasn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh...I have had a bunch of seizures, you just never hear about them," he told Power 106's DJ Felli Fel at the time. "My heart rate went down to 30 percent. I have people around me who know how to handle it. This time was real bad because I had three back to back and the third one was so bad."

The same year Wayne admitted his health issue can strike unprovoked and at any time.

"No warning, no nothing, I don't feel sick. I get headaches real bad. And the headaches? I didn't get no headaches or nothing," he shared with Sway Calloway in 2013, according to E! Online. "I told them the other day, 'Y'all can tell me right now that y'all was lying, like, 'You know what? We lyin' ain't nothin,' and I'd have to believe them because I don't know," the artist continued. "I go to sleep and wake up in the hospital. I don't feel anything. I just hope it stops happening."

Health issues apart, Wayne had had several run ins with law enforcement over the years. In 2006, he was arrested in Georgia for drug possession, and again in 2008 in Arizona on drug-related charges.
Wayne had his first child when he was 16 with his high school sweetheart. He has four children.
