“I don’t know if I’m going to say that, though. ‘My son.’ Like sun? The sun?” he questions (via People). “I want to say ‘my boy. That’s my boy.’ Yeah, that’s probably going to be more my thing.”

Zach and Tori have settled comfortably into their respective parenting roles and are already looking forward to their son’s future. The first-time-mom told People her only hope for Jackson is that he’ll “be a good person.” Zach added that he and Tori are 100 percent dedicated to making any and all of his dreams come true.

“Whatever he wants to do in life, we’re going to find a way to help him do it. That’s our job now,” he said.

Their journey won’t be easy. In a previous interview with People, Zach and Tori confirmed that their son was diagnosed with Achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism. Zach, who was diagnosed with the same form of dwarfism, admitted that Jackson will need “a little more” encouragement than an average-sized child, but said he won’t be handed any participation trophies either.

“You have to encourage a dwarf child a little more because it will take them six steps to do what others can do in two,” he said. “But I knew, dwarf or not, I was going to parent my child with the mentality that not everyone gets a trophy. You have to earn it.”

The new parents aren’t looking for any pity regarding their son’s diagnosis. In fact, they say their decision to share the news of his dwarfism was simply to be a shoulder to lean on for other parents of dwarf children. Zach and Tori have already received an overwhelming amount of love and support from fans.

“Tons of parents email me to say what an inspiration we are for their kids, showing that it’s possible for me to get married and have a family,” he said. “The other day we met a couple who have a dwarf child. They started watching our show and it made them feel that it was all going to be okay.”

The couple will share their early fears about Jackson’s dwarfism in Season 12 of “Little People, Big World.” In an early preview for the show, Zach shared with mother Amy Roloff that Jackson was “measuring below average.” The expectant father admitted he was nervous about his son’s childhood and being bullied if he was a dwarf.

“What am I going to say? ‘Oh yeah, I want a dwarf baby? I can’t wait for that kid to be bullied,’” he said (via People).
