"Love Alarm" cast members have opened up about their characters in the upcoming season, giving viewers an insight into the story's development ahead of its premiere.

"Love Alarm" season 2 is one of the most-awaited Korean series on Netflix. The romantic drama, starring Song Kang, Kim So-Hyun, and Jung Ga-Ram, takes place in an alternate world where people discover true love through an application called "Love Alarm."

The first season featured a love triangle between three high school students who experienced a complex set of emotions in a world where they were forced to express their love through the app.

The second season will continue the unfinished story and is set four years later when the application receives a major update, allowing it to accurately predict how someone's feelings will develop over time.

Netflix released a teaser video of the upcoming series last month, giving the audience an insight into the story as Kim Jo-Jo (So-Hyun) experiences a dilemma and is unable to choose between Hwang Sun-Oh (Song Kang) and Lee Hye-Yeong (Jung Ga-Ram).

Earlier this week, Netflix released a new video where the main cast and the director of the series opened up about the characters' growth, giving fans a glimpse into the story's development ahead of its premiere.

"The characters have been developed further to show how they changed," said So-Hyun.

"The goal of season two was to tell the stories we couldn't in season one. You can expect a more mature romance in the second season," said director Kim Jin-Woo, adding that how the characters have grown would be the highlight of the second season.

"Romance for Hye-Young, who's loyal to Jo-Jo, begins to blossom. When we got to hold hands, it gave me butterflies in my stomach," Ga-Ram said while talking about his character's budding romance with Jo-Jo.

"Jo-Jo's relationship with Hye-Young and Sun-Oh as well as her confusion. Those were the feelings I worked hard on while playing the role," added the actress.

Ga-Ram explained the conflicts between Sun-Oh and Lee Hye-Young as they both fall in love with Jo-Jo. "They may be friends, but they’re still wary of each other and grow a little distant," the actor said, according to Soompi.

"We had to show that we were friends but also caught in a love triangle. That was the most difficult part of playing the role," added Song Kang as he opened up about the strained friendship between the characters. He also revealed that Sun-Oh will be completely different from the first season.

"Love Alarm 2" is set to premiere Friday on Netflix.
