Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) relationship will be affected by Marcus’ (Tom Welling) arrival in “Lucifer” Season 3. Fox

“Lucifer” fans got their first look at Season 3 in the new trailer for the hit Fox TV series.

In the over one-minute clip, Tom Ellis and Aimee Garcia shared some details about Lucifer’s (Ellis) angel wings. Season 3, episode 1 will center on the lead character figuring out how he got his wings back and why. But Garcia, who plays the role of Ella, revealed that Lucifer doesn’t think he’s an angel. And if someone insists that he is one, a more “devilish” Lucifer will surface.

The teaser also a featured a first look at Tom Welling as his character, Marcus Pierce. He arrives at the police station and introduces himself to Lucifer. “He’s definitely gonna antagonize Lucifer and Decker,” Welling said.

At one point in the clip, Chloe (Lauren German) introduces herself to Marcus, and he refers to her as “Lucifer’s partner.” This remark makes Chloe realize that Lucifer is just her partner, but he’s become more popular than her.

In an interview with TV Line, Welling explained why he decided to accept a role in “Lucifer” Season 3 after not being on television for so long. “I’d sort of been talking to a couple of different networks, but I’d been in front of Fox more. I’ve been taking to them about two other series that didn’t happen, and I like Fox as a network. They called on Monday, like, ‘We want you for 10 episodes,’” he shared.

But it was Welling himself who asked if they could feature him in 15 installments. “I knew the show, and I knew people who’d worked on the show who told me I would love those people… I love it. I mean, I’m on set laughing. It’s really a joy, as cliché as that can be,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ellis said that things will heat up for his character in “Lucifer” Season 3. Lesley-Ann Brandt described the series as “sexy, devious and unpredictable.” The final scene from the teaser shows Lucifer talking to Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris), and the latter joking about Lucifer giving up favors to other people.

“Lucifer” Season 3 will premiere on Fox on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EDT.
