  • Mama June shared the full trailer for “Road to Redemption” Season 6 on Instagram
  • The Shannon matriarch was slammed for wanting to take back Honey Boo Boo
  • Other fans did not mind the criticism and simply expressed their excitement over the new season

Mama June Shannon got fans of her family’s reality show riled up after promoting the upcoming season on social media. Some were not pleased because she’s been wanting to take back her youngest daughter after walking away from her family years ago.

On Wednesday, the 49-year-old reality star took to Instagram to share the full trailer for the sixth season of “Mama June: From Not to Hot,” subtitled “Road to Redemption.” The clip featured scenes of her voicing her desire to take back Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 16, from her other daughter, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 22, now that she’s sober.

One scene showed Mama June and Pumpkin locking horns while discussing what’s best for Alana. When Pumpkin tells June that she’s Alana’s “mama now,” her mother yells expletives in front of the camera.

Mama June uploaded the trailer to promote the return of their reality series. She even happily shared a tip for how fans outside of the U.S. can stream the show if they don’t have access to We TV. But instead of getting positive feedback, some social media users attacked June for allegedly trying to ruin the lives of her daughters after abandoning them in 2019.

“Still abusing your kids, I see. On national television, for a paycheck. I’ll bet you can’t wait for Alana to be pregnant. Poor child,” one wrote.

“So disrespectful [to your] daughter especially after she took on [your] role as mother [to] Alana. [You] need [to leave],” another commented.

“June, you need to grow up and straighten up your life! Your kids are paying for your mistakes! Quit making a fool out of yourself. They deserve better than what you have been giving them! You are too old to be acting like a 5-year-old,” a third user added.

Despite the backlash, some fans did not pay attention to the criticism and simply voiced their excitement for the return of Mama June’s family on the small screen.

“Lord! I’ve been here since the beginning & I’ll be here in May. Let’s go,” a fan stated.

“Yes I’m happy! I [have] been a fan since 'Honey Boo Boo'! June I never lost faith in you,” a different netizen indicated.

“Can’t wait for this! Always praying for your family,” another commented.

Mama June has been making headlines lately for her controversial romance with a younger man. Last week, she made her relationship with 32-year-old tattoo artist Justin Stroud official on TikTok by sharing a sweet video featuring her and her lover lip-syncing a love song.

This week, she showed off her boyfriend on Instagram by uploading a video of him pulling off a naughty joke while she’s still in the shower. Fans seemingly did not approve of Mama June’s new beau, slamming him as a “druggie.”

“Mama June: Road to Redemption” Season 6 premieres May 13 on We TV.
