A 23-year-old man in Nigeria allegedly beat his 46-year-old girlfriend to death before having sex with her corpse.

The accused, identified as Adebayo Kingsley, initially hit his girlfriend’s 13-year-old son in the head with a plank in an attempt to kill the boy. He then fatally hit his girlfriend, Rosemary Ifeoma, several times with the plank before having sex with her body. The incident took place in Edo State, a region in the southern part of the country, New Telegraph NG reported.

After regaining consciousness, the 13-year-old boy rushed to his neighbors and told them his mother was killed by her boyfriend, following which he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The teenager then led the police to where Kingsley worked. Upon spotting the boy, the accused fled the scene. He was eventually traced and taken into custody.

During interrogation, the accused denied the allegations. He said he was at her home when the two got into an argument. She then asked him to leave the residence.

"I actually left but missed my way and strayed back to the house. But by this time, they had locked the gate, so I jumped into the compound through the fence and entered their room. His son threatened to stab me, went into the room and came back with a knife. I rushed at him and pushed him," the accused told the police, Vanguard reported.

"He hit his head on the wall and collapsed. The woman then came after me and held me, but in trying to push her away, she fell and hit her head on the ground and blood was coming from her head. I quickly took the boy to the room and put him on the bed and then left. I did not hit anybody with log and I did not have sex with the woman," he added.

An investigation was ongoing, and it remained unclear if the accused had been charged in connection with the incident. The police said the victim was a widow and had four children.
