A man was arrested for beheading a woman and eating her brain. The incident took place in Talisayan, Philippines, on Thursday morning.

The incident came to light after the residents found the headless body of the woman on the road and informed police about it. Amid the crowd was 21-year-old Lloyd Bagtong, who had a scythe tucked in his waist. Police said the man fled the scene but was caught and detained for questioning.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime and said he was drunk and “got irked because he could not understand the woman who spoke to him in English.” The man then told the investigators that he was “too hungry” and ate the brain of the victim along with rice. The skull was found inside the house of the man.

Police interrogated the residents of the area who told them that the accused was suffering from a mental condition. They also told the officers that they saw the victim and the accused walking together a night before the crime was committed.

Bangtong was taken into custody and was yet to be formally charged. Meanwhile, police said that along with the woman’s skull, they also found a bloodied cloth which they believe was used to carry the head to the home from the crime scene. The identity of the victim was not revealed.
