A man from Pinellas County, Florida, has been arrested for dropping notes to children asking them to engage in sexually abusive acts, police said.

The 66-year-old suspect, identified as James Donald Laker, was arrested Friday on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct for sending notes to two children, aged 6 and 11, ordering them to do sexually abusive acts with their 3-year-old brother, Law & Crime reported.

Laker dropped the handwritten notes addressing the victims on two occasions, and at both times, they were found by the children in the mailbox, police said.

The suspect was previously arrested and charged on similar counts of indecent exposure and lewd and lascivious conduct in 1995, 2000, and 2002, News Channel 8 reported.

In 2002, Laker was convicted for sending a message to a 10-year-old girl, asking her to do sex acts on herself and threatening to rape her. "An additional note written by the defendant read, 'PS...I will show my penis...You will be raped," the deputies wrote about the 2002 incident in Laker's recent arrest affidavit.

During interrogation, Laker admitted to writing inappropriate notes and said he has occasional urges to do such acts. However, Laker later apologized for the crimes, police said.

"When asked why he did this, he said he 'felt like it.' The defendant stated he was 'locked up' when he did this 20 years ago and he admitted that it was wrong in the past and now for him to write notes like this to children. When asked if he was having similar urges as he did in the past, the defendant replied 'once in a while;" deputies said as per the arrest affidavit.

Laker is booked into the Pinellas County Jail, reports said.

In a similar case of abuse targetting young children, a Texas man was convicted in August for sexually abusing two young children for years. The 49-year-old suspect, Mark Elliott Jones from McKinney, was caught after a letter written by one of the victims, addressing God and indicating the abuse, which was discovered by her father. The court sentenced Jones to 35 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
