A man in Scotland was scarred for life after he was attacked by a fellow driver in the middle of a busy road in broad daylight in Glasgow.

Graeme Wilson, 39, pursued the victim, James Grieve, on April 23 before causing him to stop in Glasgow's Springburn. He then approached Grieve's driver's window and struck him, leaving a 15-centimeter (about 6 inches) wound on the victim's face that will scar.

Wilson pleaded guilty Friday at the High Court in Glasgow to attacking Grieve and causing him severe injury and permanent disfigurement, Glasgow Times reported.

The assailant has previous drug-related convictions and a string of dangerous driving charges, prosecutor Chris McKenna told the court.

On the day of the attack, Wilson was in his black Audi Q7 car on Hawthorn street with another man in the vehicle, the court heard. Grieve was traveling in the opposite direction in a blue Volkswagen Golf.

According to the prosecutor, Wilson suddenly made a U-turn and drove off at speed in pursuit of Grieve. Wilson traveled through a red light and overtook other vehicles.

After overtaking the victim on Springburn Road, a partially masked Wilson and his unidentified, masked companion exited their car and approached Grieve's vehicle.

The prosecutor said that Wilson pulled out a knife from the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt or the waistband of his pants and then lunged toward the direction of Grieve.

“He struck Mr. Grieve’s head with a knife as other cars drove by,” McKenna said.

Grieve managed to flee the scene after reversing his car at speed. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of "an enlarged incised wound across the right side of his face from his eye to his ear measuring approximately 15 centimeters," the prosecutor said.

The wound was cleaned and stitched by plastic surgeons, while his ear was treated with glue. Two temporal nerves that had been damaged were repaired.

However, McKenna said that Grieve "will be left with a significant scar at the site of the wound."

After the incident, authorities were able to track down Wilson at his home. Authorities said he tried to flee the scene in a van, but the attempt was blocked by officers.

Wilson's sentencing is scheduled for next month.

It was not clear why Wilson pursued and attacked Grieve and whether they knew each other. The identity of his companion and whether or not he was charged were also not mentioned.
