“The Mandalorian” creator Jon Favreau has shared a new behind-the-scenes picture of the upcoming show. The producer teased a scene from the show that involved a very familiar assassin droid.

Filming of the upcoming live action “Star Wars” TV series has already wrapped. The show is currently in the postproduction phase of development. Favreau teased a behind-the-scenes picture of the show on Instagram recently, giving the fans a peek at one of the scenes involving a major character on the show.

The picture showed director Taika Waititi working on one of the episodes of “The Mandalorian.” The director appeared to be doing some voice over work for the scene.

The scene Favreau teased online is that of an assassin droid. The producer had previously teased a picture of the prop of the same droid that was placed in front of a green screen.

The shape and design of the droid should remind “Star Wars” fans of the IG-88 assassin droid from “The Empire Strikes Back” movie. However, on both the occasions that Favreau teased pictures of this character he didn’t say anything about it. A new report has surfaced online that has suggested that this is not the droid from the original trilogy.

The following segment of the article contains spoilers from “The Mandalorian” TV series.

According to a report by Making Star Wars, sources familiar with the development of the TV series have said that the droid in the show is actually being called IG-11. Another fact that suggested that this is not IG-88 is the physical differences between the two.

While IG-88 only had a cameo appearance in “The Empire Strikes Back,” IG-11 will have a more substantive role in “The Mandalorian” TV series. The character will reportedly be involved in some of the action sequences on the show, and it will even be seen riding a speeder bike at some point.
