  •  Moore said her solo experience was overwhelming, but she was grateful she had her son all for herself

Mandy Moore is getting candid about her first solo parenting experience.

Last week, the "This Is Us" star, 37, looked after her 6-month old son August, a.k.a. Gus, alone for the first time since welcoming him because her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, was on tour. According to Moore, the experience was "overwhelming," but she was "grateful" to get some mother-son bonding time with her baby boy.

"So lucky to be your mom, Goose. Even while teething and clearly in pain, this little man is just the best," she wrote on her Instagram Story Sunday, according to Us Weekly.

She continued, "Had my first solo parenting experience these past few days (hubby is on tour) and it can be overwhelming, but I’m so grateful that I got to have him all to myself."

Moore accompanied her post with a snap of Gus looking into the camera.

The "A Walk to Remember" star's Instagram is full of adorable photos and updates on her baby boy. Just three days ago, Moore posted a snap of Gus in a black and white striped onesie to celebrate him turning 6 months old.

"6 months with the happiest, sweetest guy and the most indescribable, unconditional love. We are the luckiest and love you so much, Gus!!" the 37-year-old doting mom wrote.

Moore and Goldsmith, who tied the knot in 2018, welcomed their firstborn in February. The singer-actress shared the first photo of her baby boy on Instagram at the time, writing, "Gus is here."

Moore kept his face hidden but said that their "sweet boy," August Harrison Goldsmith, arrived on his due date, much to their delight. "We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined," she added.

Earlier this month, Moore also joined other moms in celebrating National Breastfeeding Week. She posted pictures of herself breastfeeding her son and opened up about her experience.

"Breastfeeding is not always smooth sailing (clogged ducts, timing life around feedings, pumping for when I’m at work, etc… ), but nursing this baby boy for the past nearly 6 months has been a beautiful, messy and an oh so rewarding experience I will treasure forever," she wrote on Instagram.

Moore added that she was grateful to her body and for the tremendous support she received from the people around her, especially during the beginning when she had no clue about breastfeeding.

Other milestones she's shared over the past several months included Gus' first flight — for which Moore said the baby was a "trooper" — and several playdates with the children of her celebrity pals.

Last week, Moore posted an adorable picture of her son wearing a miniature bucket hat and colorful swim trunks for his "first dip in the Atlantic" during a family trip to the East Coast.
