“Married at First Sight” Season 9 premieres Wednesday night, but International Business Times has an exclusive first look at the episode. In the video above, “MAFS” fans meet one of the Season 9 brides.

Deonna McNeill is a 30-year-old who spent the last decade single. She says she’s been “dating” herself. The operations manager has been focusing on herself, but she acknowledges that it’s because her last relationship ended badly.

“Both he and I were ugly towards one another so I ended up putting up walls to protect myself,” she admits.

Deonna knows that she has some flaws when it comes to relationships. “There are times when I can get in my own way, when I can overthink things, where I have a vision in my head of what things should look like and that’s not really life,” she says.

She wants to get married at first sight because she thinks the experts will be able to help her find her “forever relationship.”

Deonna says that she’s recently had a lot of free time to determine if she’s dateable. “I feel like I’m ready to get married now because I’ve had all of this free time figuring out, am I someone that would want to date me? I feel like the answer is yes,” she says.

She lists off her accomplishments: two degrees, homeowner, car owner, churchgoer. She says she has worked through a lot of her issues. She’s at a point now where she wants to share her life with someone, and that’s where “Married at First Sight” comes in.

The experts will pair her with Gregory Okotie. He has his own busy career running his math learning center, but he shares Deonna’s family values. Are they a match made in heaven or another “MAFS” divorce in the making? Fans will have to tune in to find out.

“Married at First Sight” Season 9 premieres Wednesday on Lifetime. First, the matchmaking special will air at 8 p.m. EDT. The two-hour wedding episode will follow at 9 p.m. EDT.
