It’s official: Square Enix’s latest title in collaboration with Marvel and Crystal Dynamics, “Marvel’s Avengers,” is coming, and it will be playable in several gaming platforms save for one.

According to a tweet from the official “Marvel’s Avengers” Twitter account, @PlayAvengers, the action adventure game will be playable on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the upcoming cloud based game streaming platform Google Stadia.

The news comes as a happy one for owners of those systems, as well as for those who are planning to purchase the Stadia. On the other hand, it’s understandably not a happy one for Nintendo Switch owners as both the announcement and the game developers themselves didn’t say anything about the game coming to the Switch.

The announcement comes by way of a giant poster advertising the game at the venue for this year’s E3 -- the LA Convention Center. The poster doesn’t reveal the exact release date, but it does tell excited players to “embrace your powers,” implying the fact that they will be able to do that on the aforementioned platforms soon.

Game details

“Marvel’s Avengers” is expected to give players a cinematic and emotional gameplay experience that will make it worthy to be called the “Game of the Year.” It is said to feature melee combat, cover shooting, stealth sections, and of course, parts where some strong boss shows up to beat the good guys up.

While it’s unclear as to who will be featured in the game, fans are assured that some major characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk will be in the game. Fans speculate that since there’ll be some stealth sections, favorites like Black Widow will be there, as well as the Black Panther and the Winter Soldier.

GameSpot noted that the game might be set in a world that “hasn't been too kind to superheroes” based on the initial trailer. Nevertheless, Square Enix promises that it will be “packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise."

Square Enix is set to reveal the game’s details at E3. Stay tuned for more details about the game and more.
