A four-year-old girl was recovering after she was allegedly served scalding hot water at a McDonald’s outlet in Oregon’s Portland International Airport.

In a Facebook post Friday, the girl’s mother, Emily Dolbeer, said she and her daughter, Lainey, were heading to Disneyland when they decided to go to McDonald’s to get breakfast.

“I ask the worker if they can fill up my daughter’s water bottle. She asks, ‘do you want ice’ to which I replied, ‘that would be great.’ Lainey’s water bottle has Disney princesses on it and is a double insulated water bottle that keeps the cold liquids cold and you cannot feel the temperature of the liquids on the inside by holding it,” Dolbeer wrote.

They walked back to the gate and a while later Lainey said she was thirsty. Dolbeer gave her the water bottle and the girl started screaming after drinking water.

"It was the most little, heart wrenching sound you've ever heard. I turn around and she is just the most inconsolable little human you've ever seen," said Dolbeer.

“The water the employee put in the container was scalding hot water,” Dolbeer wrote, adding that she consoled her daughter and went back to the outlet to know why would they “put scalding water in a child’s water bottle, especially when I said that I wanted ice.”

“The employees were clueless on how to handle the situation. The manager wrote her name down on blank receipt paper and I laughed and said, ‘no, I want an incident report filled out, now,’” she wrote.

Dolbeer then started filling out the incident report when one of the women asked her if she was going on a vacation. When Dolbeer replied she was going to Disneyland, the woman allegedly said, “oh that won’t be fun with pain.” Dolbeer said by then, her daughter already had blisters on her lip, chin and some on her neck.

Speaking to ABC-affiliated television station KEZI, Dolbeer said it was affecting her daughter’s eating.

"I think the fact that we are at the happiest place on earth is the best distraction for her. We actually saw Pluto on the way home from dinner last night. He's one of her favorites so that put a little smile on her face,” Dolbeer said.

She added that though the owner of the franchise called her to apologize; she now wants an action from McDonald’s.

“He gave me an apology about the incident. I said, ‘It's not an incident, it's pure negligence and I want you to know this is the first sincere apology that we've received,’” Dolbeer said, adding, "Something needs to be done because this negligence can just keep happening. I don't know if they need better training. Something needs to be done," she said.

In a statement to Fox News, the franchise's owner Mike Kennedy said, "The safety of our guests and crew are our top priority. We are taking this claim very seriously and investigating this matter."
