Megan Fox has opened up about suffering a psychological breakdown after the release of her movie “Jennifer’s Body” in 2009.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 33-year-old actress confessed that being objectified and sexualized in the initial years of her acting career took a big toll on her mental health, so much so that she suffered a “psychological breakdown” during the promotions of “Jennifer’s Body”.

“It wasn’t just that movie, it was every day of my life, all the time, with every project I worked on and every producer I worked with. It preceded a breaking point for me. I think I had a genuine psychological breakdown where I wanted just nothing to do,” Fox said.

The “Transformers” star also revealed that the reactions, when she openly spoke about being sexualized on screen in almost every movie, were really different than the reactions that were received by other actresses when they shared similar stories during the #MeToo movement.

She noticed that when she spoke about her own horrifying #MeToo experiences while she was growing up in Hollywood, they were unwelcomed by the whole industry because she felt like no one was listening or even cared for her. Some people even went on to say that she deserved that kind of behavior.

Welcoming her first child with husband Brian Austin Green helped her cope up with all the stress she went through over the years. Her first child, Noah, was born in 2012 and then the couple went on to welcome their son Bodhi in 2014, and son Journey in 2016.

The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” star believes that her children have been the only reason that she could fight all these situations and become a better version of herself.

However, she noted that the industry’s view of becoming a mother has not changed at all, since it is still considered a “handicap” by directors and producers.

“Being a mother is not something really respected in this industry. And that’s unfortunate because it is not acknowledged, what we are juggling, what we are doing,” Fox said.

This is not the first time Fox came out to openly to talk about her struggles in Hollywood. Last year, Fox admitted that there were many reasons why she chose not to speak about her #MeToo experiences. She felt that she would be seen as a "sympathetic victim" if she came out with her personal stories.
