  • Some Twitter users noticed a square-shaped crease in Meghan Markle's dress at a memorial for Queen Elizabeth II
  • Critics speculated that Markle might be wearing a mic pack to gather material for her rumored Netflix docuseries
  • A report said that the accusation was baseless and that Markle was not wearing a microphone

Meghan Markle has been accused by some online critics of wearing a microphone during a royal walkabout at Windsor Castle over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Duchess of Sussex joined her husband Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton as they greeted mourners at a memorial for Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday at age 96.

However, Markle sparked rumors that she was wearing a microphone during the walkabout after Twitter users noticed a square-shaped crease in the former "Suits" actress' black dress, Page Six reported.

But a source close to the Duchess of Sussex debunked the rumor and said the accusation was baseless.

"This is insane and actually damaging to her. Of course, she was not wearing a mic," the unnamed insider told Page Six.

Some Twitter users had suggested that Markle might be wearing a mic pack to gather material for her rumored Netflix docuseries.

"Why is she wearing a mic pack at the walkabout during the Queen's mourning?" one person tweeted.

"Those aren't images of reconciliation. Meghan wore a mic and clung to the Queen's flowers to stage a photo op. Thankfully they, and Harry himself at one point, stopped her. What a piece of work," another claimed.

"Is Meghan Markle wearing a mic to use the Queen's death for her Netflix reality show?" a third person suggested.

However, other royal fans came to Markle's defense, pointing out that the square-shaped crease in her dress could be anything.

"I wear a continuous glucose monitor, and my sensor is the same rectangle shape," one person tweeted.

"I swear, leave that woman alone," another wrote.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Page Six, body language experts Judi James and Dr. Lillian Glass weighed in on Markle's behavior during the royal walkabout.

James suggested that the former actress' "inner anxiety" was evident due to her "frequent hair flicking."

"Meghan looked like a woman waiting for her cues rather than pushing herself forward," the body language expert told the outlet.

Glass suggested that Markle's subdued behavior during the outing could be due to the frosty reception she and Prince Harry received during the Platinum Jubilee in June. The couple was booed when they attended a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral at the time.

"Usually, we have seen Meghan with a smile plastered on her face, whether it is appropriate or not," Glass told Page Six. "But this time, she actually seemed more genuine and humbled. There is no question that she was in fear, as she hung on to Harry's hand for dear life as they walked together. She was serious and even stood back when Harry was speaking to someone. Usually, she is front and center, but the fact that she hung back was very telling of her fear."
