Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal exit is expected to expire at the end of March 2021 but the couple isn’t ready to say goodbye to their lives in Los Angeles just yet.

After locking down multimillion-dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify, Meghan and Harry are hoping to extend their time as non-working royals, according to British tabloid The Sun.

Prince Harry is expected to return to the U.K. in the new year to hammer out the details of an extension. The couple is hoping their talk with the senior royals will be “less confrontational” than the January 2020 summit in Sandringham.

At the beginning of the year, senior royals were reportedly furious with Meghan and Prince Harry after they announced their plan to step back from their positions on Instagram.

This time around, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to come to an agreement with the royal family in private.

A source revealed the initial conversation will take place through video chat and will be finalized in person. “Although they will do some of it by Zoom, Harry wants to meet face to face to tie it all up,” the insider revealed.

“Things seem to have calmed down. Harry has been in contact with the Queen more often than you would think. But certain things you need to be there in person to sort. They will need a few weeks. That could be done after April, depending on Covid.”

However, the contract laying out Meghan and Prince Harry’s extension isn’t expected to be finalized until after their first deal with the royal family has expired.

“Expect things to drag past March 31. The Sussexes have laid their stall out very clearly,” a top aide said.
