Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are still a picture of a happy couple in their first joint engagement after their exit.

In January, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned from their Christmas break in Canada. They carried one engagement before dropping the shocking announcement that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family. Shortly after that, Prince Harry and Markle moved back to Canada.

However, the royal couple is back in the U.K. where they are expected to join the royal family for the Commonwealth Day service. On Thursday, the pair stepped out together for the Endeavour Awards.

Body language expert Judi James examined their gestures and she concluded that they are still very much in love. In fact, the royal couple is putting on a “honeymoon style” affection.

In various clips, Markle can be seen touching her husband’s back. There are also clips of Prince Harry subtly touching her while they carried out their first joint public engagement after their royal exit.

“Running the gauntlet of rain, cheers and a few boos, Harry and Meghan used a dazzling display of eye-gazing, mirrored pinging smiles and loving, intimate touch rituals to announce the fact that they are still a very like-minded and mutually-adoring couple,” James told FEMAIL about the duo.

“There was a new gloss to their simple but co-ordinated styling that hinted they’d upped their game in terms of A-list impact but Harry’s reddened, rounded cheeks and the gleam in his eyes suggested he was still excited to be arriving back with his wife on his arm.”

The expert noted how Prince Harry and Markle gazed at each other’s eyes and performed similar smiles, showing that they are enjoying “mutual happiness.” When they were seated, Prince Harry was also caught on camera stretching one arm out across Markle’s lap and he held her hand.

"Their rituals of intimate touch and intense, adoring eye-gazing are usually most common during the honeymoon period of a relationship when romantic traits are the norm. They still perform them well beyond that period,” James added.

Meanwhile, novelist Dame Hilary Mantel expressed her delight that the Sussexes’ marriage survived. She admitted that many, including her, thought that if Markle would leave the family, she would be on her own.

Meanwhile, according to royal photographer Arthur Edwards, Prince Harry will eventually return to the royal family. The duke will do it with or without his wife.
