  • Twitter users compared Melania Trump's and Jill Biden's all-black outfits
  • This came after Biden became a trending topic on Twitter due to photos of her rocking black fishnet tights and booties
  • Some preferred Biden's look, while others praised the former first lady's fashion choices

The fashion choices of first ladies are often the topic of discussion due to their influence on trends, and Melania Trump and Jill Biden are no exception. However, social media users are divided over which first lady is more fashionable.

The current first lady, 69, recently became a trending topic on Twitter due to one of her airport looks last week. While deplaning Executive One Foxtrot, Biden was spotted rocking an all-black outfit consisting of a pleated leather skirt, fishnet tights and heeled booties, over which she wore a fitted blazer and face mask.

This led to Biden's outfit sparking comparisons over at Twitter with a similar look her predecessor wore during her time as first lady.

Omar Navarro tweeted side-by-side photos of Trump and Biden both sporting all-black outfits. In the image, Trump rocked a black fitted blazer, belted to show off her figure, over a black dress. She paired the look with dark sunglasses and towering black heels.

Actor and comedian Terrence K. Williams shared the same images, tweeting, "Who wore it better? Jill Biden or First Lady Melania Trump?"

Twitter users had mixed opinions, with some loving Trump's look while others prefer Biden’s style.

"Not even a contest! Melania wore it best...Jill not even in the competition!" one person commented.

"Melania was one of the best dressed ladies of all time. Jackie O, Melania, Pat Nixon, Betty Ford, Rosalyn Carter and Michelle Obama are my favourites and I reckon except for Jackie O, Melania beat all of them," another supporter wrote.

"Melania was so good with outfits. I love her so much," a third user added.

Others picked Biden over Trump, pointing out that she was nearly two decades older than her predecessor but can rock similar looks.

"Dr. Jill has infinitely better fashion sense than her predecessor," one commented.

"First Lady Jill Biden for sure! She looks amazing! The former first Lady only wishes she had half Mrs Bidens class and style!" another wrote.

"How long until Jill Biden is on the cover of a women/fashion magazine?" another supporter added.

Some were not happy with Trump and Biden being compared to each other in the first place.

"Good grief, you're cringe. Stop comparing women and trying to get your dimwit follower to dunk on the First Lady. No need for this unpleasant misogyny, little man," Mike P Williams commented.

“Misogyny is alive,” another wrote. Another said they didn’t care about the comparison because “looks mean absolutely nothing.”

Despite being only a few months into her stint as first lady, Biden has already shown that she's on top of her style game.

For President Joe Biden's inauguration, Jill wore a custom blue dress and overcoat from designer Alexandra O'Neill's New York-based label Markarian, Town and Country reported. The FLOTUS later changed into a white dress and coat by another American label, Gabriela Hearst.
