  • Michelle Obama is friends with George W. Bush

Michelle Obama has been dubbed as a good role model after she routinely encountered prejudice, hypocrisy, and bullying.

While speaking with The Independent, journalist Janet Street-Porter said that the ex-FLOTUS also received criticisms from Barack Obama’s political rivals even though she didn’t hold any office at the White House.

Street-Porter also praised the former first lady for forging close friendships even with her husband’s rival like George W. Bush.

“A famous photograph, taken at a museum opening in Washington in 2016, shows the pair hugging. According to Michelle, they regularly sat next to each other at state funerals and public events, using these meetings to swap stories about their families. From these encounters a friendship grew, based on common ground,” Street-Porter said.

During a recent interview with People, Michelle revealed that she and Bush’s values are the same even though they don’t always agree on policies. At the end of the day, they are on the same page when it comes to love and compassion.

Meanwhile, Barack and Michelle also made headlines this week after the ex-POTUS shared a surprising revelation about his wife. On Instagram, the dad of two uploaded a photo of himself and his wife hard at work while building furniture at a local school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The ex-POTUS said that his wife is so much better in handling tools than him.

Barack and Michelle are known for celebrating each other’s strengths and accepting each other’s weaknesses. Last year, the ex-president of the United States shared wonderful advice about love and marriage to his former communications director Dan Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer included Barack’s advice in his book “Yes, We (Still) Can.”

Barack said that before getting married, one should ask if their future wife is someone who they find interesting. It is also important to marry someone who could make them laugh and who is also going to be a good mom.

“Life is long. These are the things that really matter over the long-term,” Barack said.
