Miley Cyrus has offered to educate DaBaby about the LGBTQ+ community after the rapper made headlines last week for his misinformed homophobic rant at the Rolling Loud 2021 Festival in Miami. The singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a message for the controversial rapper, offering him resources that could help him learn more about the community.

“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness,” she wrote. “The internet can fuel a lot of hate & anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture… but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication, & connection.”

“It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds,” she continued. “There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn!”

Tagging DaBaby in her post, Cyrus told the rapper she would love to talk to him and see how they could educate each other towards a better future. “Check your DMS — would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!” she wrote.

Last week, DaBaby came under fire after making ignorant remarks about HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ community right after his Rolling Loud set.

One of the artists who slammed the rapper was Elton John, who responded to DaBaby’s remarks by dispelling some of the “harmful misinformation” he conveyed to his audience that night.

Madonna also countered DaBaby’s controversial remarks, tweeting, “If you’re going to make hateful remarks to the LGBTQ+ community about HIV/AIDS then know your facts.”

As his statements made the rounds and earned negative reactions online, DaBaby was removed from the lineups of Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, and Day N Vegas. He has since issued an apology for his remarks, thanking the many people who came to him “with kindness.”
