A minor girl in India killed herself after her father caught her with a boyfriend he disapproved of. After the girl's tragic death, the father killed the boy in revenge by forcing him to consume the same poison she ingested, police said.

The tragic incident happened in Vijayapura, a city in the southern Indian state of Karnataka last month but came to light over the weekend after the boy's body was discovered by cops.

The investigation began after the boy's parents filed a missing person report on Sept. 22 and a complaint from the girl's parents saying that their daughter was abducted, The Times of India reported.

Police first believed the couple eloped, but the investigation took a serious turn after they discovered the boy's body in a river around 40 miles away from his village, on Oct.15.

The girl ended her life by consuming poison after her father caught her with the boy on the day he was reported missing. In a fit of rage, the father tied the boy's hands and forced him to consume the remaining poison, reports said.

Cops arrested the girl's father and a relative after they confessed to killing the boy and dumping his body in the river. However, they did not reveal what happened to the girl's body, Times Now reported.

The police have not revealed the identity of both the victims or the suspects, who were arrested in connection with the incident. The investigators are searching for the girl's body while the charges against the suspects remain unclear.

In a similar incident last month, a 20-year-old man in Harris County, Texas was arrested for murdering an 18-year-old boy who was found in bed with his juvenile cousin. The suspect Daniel Hines, allegedly shot the victim, identified as Curtis Mobley, multiple times outside the house after the girl's mother spotted the latter in bed with her daughter. Mobley was possibly the juvenile's ex-boyfriend, according to reports.
