A 16-year-old football player from Washington state who disappeared last week on his way to football practice was found safe after an intensive search for two days. A day later, the teenager was arrested on charges of murder, police said.

Gabriel Michael Davies from Olympia was reported missing after leaving his home at approximately 4 p.m. on Aug. 31 to attend football practice at Olympia High School. The investigators who began the search after Davies did not reach the school found his unoccupied vehicle on Tilley Road near Millersylvania State Park under "suspicious circumstances."

The teen's cell phone was shattered on the ground and there was blood inside the vehicle, police said, NY Daily News reported.

The following day, the police found Davies while he was walking alone near the area where his vehicle was located and returned him to his family, Thurston County Sheriff's office said in a news release.

However, the investigators arrested Davies and another 16-year-old on Sept. 2 in connection with the death of a 51-year-old man who was found dead with a gunshot wound inside his residence in Orting.

The investigators found the unidentified victim dead on Sept. 1 when they responded to his house after he failed to show up at his work for four days.

"Deputies were able to gain access into the house to do a welfare check and they located the man deceased inside the home. The man had a gunshot wound, but no firearm was nearby," the news release said.

The teens have been charged with burglary, second-degree murder, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The suspects are currently held at the Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center.
