  • Simon Pegg revealed that the makers are planning to “restart” the production on "Mission: Impossible 7" in September
  • Pegg stated that the crew will be able to shoot the “outdoor” stuff in that period
  • The seventh installment will hit theaters on Nov. 19, 2021

Christopher McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible 7” was one of the first movies to halt its production due to the coronavirus pandemic. In February, it was announced that the cast and crew of the upcoming installment in the highly successful “Mission Impossible” franchise were unable to shoot in the beautiful city of Venice due to the life-threatening illness.

But now it seems Ethan Hunt will finally be resuming his mission.

In an interview with Variety, Simon Pegg, who plays the role of Benji Dunn in the “MI” films, revealed that the makers are planning to “restart” the production on the seventh film in September. He further stated that the crew will be able to shoot the “outdoor” stuff in that period.

Pegg also noted that precautions will be taken while filming and joked that the fight scenes would need to be shot “five feet apart.”

“A September restart is the plan for the film. That will begin with the outdoor stuff. That feels fairly doable, and obviously, there will be precautions put in place,” Pegg said.

However, the “Shaun Of The Dead” star does not know how regularly the stars would be tested before the shooting.

“People that are involved in any close proximity stuff, it will have to be determined that they’re safe to do that. I don’t know what the testing situation is, how that works, or whether they’ll be able to be tested regularly,” Pegg said.

Just yesterday, Hollywood came out with a 22-page report that included a blueprint for resuming production amid the pandemic. The report suggested that big studios or production companies will have to utilize “effective” testing protocols to get more accurate results.

“Regular, periodic testing of the cast and crew will be used to mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-19. Employers will utilize current effective testing protocols that must be developed in conjunction with, and approved by, the Unions and Guilds. As tests are developed and others become more accurate, the testing protocols shall also change,” the report stated.

In April, Paramount Pictures revealed the seventh installment of “Mission: Impossible,” which was originally set to hit theaters on July 23, 2021, will now premiere four months later on Nov. 19, 2021. Meanwhile, its eighth entry was also moved from Aug. 5, 2022 to Nov. 4, 2022.

“Mission: Impossible 7” stars Tom Cruise in the lead role and also includes Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, and Pom Klementieff in pivotal roles.
