A Missouri man has been arrested after the police rescued a woman, who had been stuck in a bathtub for days, and two malnourished 5-year-old girls from an apartment.

Bryan Snow, 30, is facing two counts of felony first-degree charges for endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk and a second-degree felony charge of domestic abuse, according to a news release.

Blue Springs police said they received an emergency call on Feb. 12 about a woman who was in need of "lift assist." When they responded to the apartment, they found the 27-year-old woman, identified as Snow's girlfriend, sitting naked on inches of human waste in the tub.

According to the court documents, the woman with high-functioning autism has multiple sclerosis and was unable to get out of the tub on her own. She sustained wounds from sitting in the filthy tub for days and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Snow reportedly told the police that he had placed the woman in the bathtub two or three days earlier. He also said that a friend was supposed to check on her while he worked in Kansas City for two days, reported news outlet The Kansas City Star.

According to a doctor, the woman's injuries could have been life-threatening if they had not been treated. Nurses in the hospital later told the police that during Snow's emergency call, they could hear the voices of two little children in the background. The police went back to the apartment, where they found the 5-year-old twins. They were extremely malnourished and were eating out of a cereal bag. The police described the condition of the girls as "skin and bones."

When asked about the girls, Snow blamed their condition on another person who was allegedly responsible for checking on them. He also claimed that he fed the girls and did his best to take care of them.

The twins were taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. It was found that they suffered from severe malnourishment and abuse. Physicians also discovered that one of the girls was "targeted" for injuries. She had substantial hair loss from malnutrition, burns on her body, sores in the webbing of her had and multiple splinters on her hands and feet, reported KCTV5. According to the girl, she got the splinters when she got "stuck in the closet" and crawled out of it.

The girls later underwent a forensic interview at the Child Protection Center and detailed their abuse. They told the investigators that "Mom and Dad" would choke them with their hands around their neck as a form of punishment. They were burned with a lighter when they had potty training accidents.

Apparently, there had already been previous reports of child abuse from the same address. One of the girls was even removed from their parents' custody on one occasion. However, their mother later regained custody on the condition that she would keep them away from their father. Meanwhile, Snow told the police that he has ADHD, bipolar disorder, autism, multiple personality disorder and schizoaffective disorder.

Snow is currently being held on a $65,000 bond in Jackson County Jail.
