MTV addressed the issue concerning Ryan Edwards allegedly driving under the influence.

On Wednesday, MTV gave a statement to Us Weekly about the disturbing footage featuring Ryan’s impaired driving. “MTV does not condone driving under the influence. Ryan’s erratic behavior was due to actions that he took without anyone’s prior knowledge,” MTV spokesperson said.

The controversial clip featured Ryan and Mackenzie Standifer heading to their wedding. She noticed that he was not in the condition to drive and asked him, “Why are you swerving?” He blamed his sleepiness. Unconvinced, Mackenzie turned off the cameras inside the car and prompted him to admit if he took Xanax again. Ryan swore on his son Bentley’s life that he didn’t.

The footage was only filmed via a dashboard camera and it stirred a number of criticisms from the viewers who were concerned about their safety. Some of them called the network’s attention to intervene in such case. “@MTV you guys need to hold ryan edwards responsible for driving while intoxicated. @TeenMomOG,” one user commented. “Terrible choice not letting production break the barrier while they watched Ryan Edwards drive high on drugs and endanger every1,” another one added.

Just days before Ryan’s poor driving, he announced that he just returned from a rehabilitation center. “A little over 30 days ago, I made the decision to check myself into a rehabilitation facility. I am back home now doing well, and life could not be better,” he said. “Without the support of my wife and parents I would not have been able to do this. Thank you all for your well wishes.”

Ryan’s ex-fiancée, Maci Bookout already expressed her concern about his drug addiction. In fact, in the “Teen Mom OG” episode on June 19, she sought the help of a counselor to stage an intervention. Ryan and Maci share a son, Bentley, 8.

“I’m hoping to get some advice on helping an addict,” she said. “He is my oldest son’s father. I’m not really sure what exactly he’s using, but sometimes he’ll fall asleep while you’re trying to have a conversation with him or he’s extremely wide-eyed. He doesn’t look right.”

In other news, Maci just released her book “I Wasn’t Born Bulletproof: Lessons I’ve Learned (So You Don’t Have To).” She shared a snapshot on Instagram with her friends by the pool celebrating it with each of them holding a copy.
