National Relaxation Day is observed annually on Aug. 15 to give people a chance to take a break from their busy lifestyle and relax without feeling guilty.

The day was founded in 1985 by Sean Moeller, who was only a fourth-grader at the time.

This day gives people a chance to chill out and promotes stress relief through meditation and other relaxation techniques. Relaxing the mind and body also helps in getting positivity and better concentration. To celebrate this day, take a break from work and indulge in things that help you relax, like taking a spa day, sitting in a hot tub, going for a swim or just reading a book. You can also go out for a walk or chill with your friends if that helps you relax.

Here are some quotes, courtesy Wise Sayings, about the importance of relaxation to share on this day:

1. "Sometimes I wish that I could go into a time machine right now and just look at myself and say, 'Calm down. Things are gonna be fine. Things are gonna be all great. Just relax.'" - Tristan Wilds

2. "It is necessary to relax your muscles when you can. Relaxing your brain is fatal." - Stirling Moss

3. "When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing – just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?" - Ralph Marston

4. "Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer." - William S. Burroughs

5. "Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen." - Leonardo da Vinci

6. "We will be more successful in all our endeavors if we can let go of the habit of running all the time, and take little pauses to relax and re-center ourselves. And we'll also have a lot more joy in living." - Thich Nhat Hanh

7. "The mind should be allowed some relaxation, that it may return to its work all the better for the rest." – Seneca

8. "Relaxation means releasing all concern and tension and letting the natural order of life flow through one's being." – Donald Curtis

9. "Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are." – Chinese Proverb

10. "Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop." – Ovid
