NBC News has faced quite a bit of scrutiny in recent years due to a range of scandals that have plagued the network. As a result, many have taken a closer look at what has gone on behind the scenes, including the New York Attorney General. Now, a former NBC News anchor is speaking out as the investigation surrounding allegations of "historical sexual assault" continues.

According to The Daily Mail, officials from a Civil Division department called "The Weinstein Unit" have interviewed more than a dozen women about violations they may have experienced while working at the network, including former NBC News anchor Linda Vester.

The journalist, who was also interviewed in January regarding her allegations against ex "Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw, was specifically asked about "cover-up culture at NBC."

"I was one of numerous women and men who have been interviewed by the state's Attorney General Civil Division about alleged violations of the state's Human Rights law regarding sexual harassment and gender discrimination at NBC News," she said, adding, "They were very interested because all of us had information about women who had been harassed or retaliated against or both or were discriminated against."

Continuing, she said that law enforcement asked her to revisit both her own experience of alleged harassment but also the actions of former NBC chairman Andy Lack. Specifically, Vester was asked to reveal anything she knew about "his involvement in retaliation" against her once she came forward with her claims.

"They wanted to know as many details as I could offer about what Andy Lack's involvement was in orchestrating a public response against me and a defense or cover-up. He was one of many," she elaborated.

Furthermore, Vester stated that she was also questioned about NBC President Noah Oppenheim and former "Today" host Matt Lauer. It remains unclear whether or not the ongoing investigation played a part in Lack's recent decision to step down from his role, but according to Vester, the "secret initial inquiry began in November and has continued for months."

Even with Lack's decision to vacate his position on Monday, the former NBC employee does not believe that enough has been done to fully remedy the problem in her eyes.

"I am more concerned that NBC senior management thinks it has rooted out all of the bad guys by ousting Andy Lack when there are several more who are known to law enforcement," she said, later adding, "I certainly hope that NBC is going to conduct an investigation because there are documented sexual harassers who are still in positions of power at NBC."
