"Cheer," the Netflix docs-series that follows Navarro College Cheerleaders, gained lots of fans earlier this year when it premiered in January. However, due to an unexpected hurdle, those who were hoping to see a second season in the near future will likely have to wait quite a while.

According to HuffPost, all "official camps, competitions and championship events have been canceled for the next two months over coronavirus concerns," which includes the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship in Daytona, Florida.

Varsity Spirit, the organization which oversees various cheerleading competitions, made the announcement earlier this month due to the ongoing pandemic. "Varsity Spirit has made the decision to not proceed as planned with scheduled events for at least the next eight weeks," they wrote, adding that they are "actively exploring all options, including rescheduling events, extending the event season, and hosting virtual events."

Continuing, they added that they were hopeful and would continue to update those affected moving forward.

After the news broke, stars of the "Netflix" show took to social media to share their thoughts on the cancellation. "This isn’t goodbye Navarro 2020 it’s see you later. Daytona you will be missed and greatly appreciated," La' Darius Marshall wrote in an Instagram post, which can be seen below.

As reported by E News, coach Monica Aldama later added a comment to Marshall's picture, which read, "My heart is breaking!!!! I love you forever!!!!"

Prior to the end of the season for the Navarro College cheerleaders, many had already started speculating whether the popular show would get a second season. Previously, stars Gabi Butler, Lexi Brumback, and Jerry Harris gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight, where Brumback indicated that she would not be "opposed" to filming a potential Season 2. That sentiment was later echoed by both Butler and Harris. However, at this time, it remains to be seen if that will ever come to fruition.

"Cheer" is currently streaming on Netflix.
